App privacy policy.
Updated 25 September 2026
This policy covers the Chale app. WaterMeetSky Limited (WMS Africa), #25 Nyanyo Street, Adenta, Ghana, is responsible for your information. Contact chale@wms.africa. Chale is for adults 18 and over.
What Chale keeps
Your account. The name you give, your single-use invitation code, the phones you sign in on, passkey public keys and sign-in sessions. Chale does not store your private passkey.
Chats and files. Your messages and Chale’s replies stay on our servers so you can continue across your phones. Each message is sent to the AI model to write a reply. Photos and files you add are stored on our servers and read by the model when you ask about them. PDFs Chale creates are stored too.
Memory. Things you ask Chale to remember, your name and notes on how Chale should speak. In Settings → Memory, you can see, change or delete individual memories, or turn memory off.
Reminders and notifications. We store reminders and check-ins on our servers. Reminders ring on your phone; check-ins appear in chat or as push notifications. We keep a push token for each phone, IP addresses in server logs and error logs to run and protect the service.
Your phone’s calendar, contacts and location
Each connector is off until you turn it on. Your phone’s permission is also required. Chale reads it when a request needs it. The events, matching contact or exact location with street address it reads enter the chat, reach the AI model and remain in chat history.
Chale adds a phone calendar event or saves a contact only after you allow it on a card, or choose Always allow for that action. These phone connectors never call or message anyone, or change or delete your own events or contacts. Chale does not track your location history.
Turning a phone connector off stops new reads. Information already in a chat stays there until you delete it or your account.
Chale’s browser
When you ask about a web page, Chale opens it in a browser on our servers. The website sees a visit from our server, not your phone. Accounts you sign in to there stay signed in until you remove them or delete your Chale account.
Google user data
Access you choose. Only after you connect Google, Chale can read Gmail messages (sender, recipients, subject, date, text and attachment names), or your Google Calendar list and events.
If you also enable sending and changes, Chale can send an email or add or change a Google Calendar event. You must approve the exact email or event on a card in the app each time.
Use and sharing. We use this data only to provide what you ask for: answering questions about mail and plans, and preparing emails and events for approval. It is never sold or used for advertising, AI model training, creditworthiness or lending decisions.
Chale keeps copies of fetched messages and events on our servers so it can answer while Google is slow. Relevant content is sent to Google’s Gemini API to produce the requested reply. Apart from providing these features, we share Google data only where required by law or necessary to keep the service secure.
Human access. No one at WMS Africa reads your Google data unless you give permission to view specific information for support, or access is necessary to investigate abuse or security issues or meet a legal obligation.
Disconnecting. Go to Settings → Connectors → Gmail or Google Calendar → Turn off. This revokes Chale’s access at Google and deletes the copies Chale kept for that connection. You can also remove Chale in your Google Account permissions. That stops access; the copies are removed when you turn the connection off in Chale or delete your account.
Chale's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Who processes information
- DigitalOcean hosts our servers in London, United Kingdom.
- Google’s Gemini API produces replies and uses Google Search for web answers. Google’s APIs provide connected Gmail and Google Calendar data.
- Expo delivers push notifications through Apple’s or Google’s notification service.
- Cloudflare serves this website.
- Hubtel will process payments when that feature becomes available.
Information is processed outside Ghana. We use the paid Gemini API, where prompts and replies are not used to train Google’s models. Google may retain them temporarily for service security and legal requirements; search-related data also follows its Gemini API terms.
Chale does not sell personal data, show ads in the app or use personal data, including Google data, to train AI models.
Payments are not available yet
When enabled, airtime and ECG electricity purchases will use your MoMo number, amount and, for ECG, meter number. Hubtel will process the payment. Chale will not hold your money. Payment will require your approval in Chale and the MoMo prompt.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data until you delete it or your account. In Settings → You → Delete account, you can remove your chats, reminders, files, memories, Google connections and their saved data, sign-in sessions and your Chale browser. Your invitation code remains used.
Deletion removes data from your active account. Backup copies may remain until they expire.
If you cannot use the app, email chale@wms.africa. We verify that the account belongs to you and complete deletion within 30 days. See account deletion for the steps.
Security and your choices
Traffic is encrypted with HTTPS. Google access tokens are encrypted at rest. No service can guarantee complete security.
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, or withdraw permission for optional processing, at chale@wms.africa. We may need to verify your identity. You can also contact Ghana’s Data Protection Commission about a privacy concern.
Changes to this policy
We will update the date above when this policy changes and tell you about material changes affecting your information. The invitation website has its own privacy notice.
